Shareholder Approval Stats: New vs. Amended Equity Plan Proposals

In this recent post, Exequity's Ed Hauder conveniently recaps the S&P 500 shareholder voting statistics over a 3-year proxy period for amendments of existing omnibus plans vs. new omnibus plans to support his recommendation that companies consider the latter to increase the likelihood of shareholder approval.

The bar graphs show that median levels of vote support for proposals to amend existing omnibus plans are slightly higher than they are for new omnibus plans:






However, this gain is purportedly offset by the fact that proposals to approve new omnibus plans garner more support at or above the 90% level:
