Chapters

Membership in the Society is both national and local.

Membership in the Society offers two memberships in one. Members belong to a national organization with over 3,700 members, gaining access to a wide range of programs, content, benchmarking data, and other benefits available to all members. Additionally, members automatically become part of a local chapter based on their work or home location (and can choose more than one). The Society has 21 chapters across the United States, each governed by local members. These chapters provide a space for smaller groups to meet regularly and discuss relevant, timely topics. Chapters elect their own officers and, with support from the National Office, organize programs throughout the year. These programs typically include both substantive content and networking opportunities, giving members a valuable way to engage with their peers. Many programs also offer CLE credits. Chapter activities are an essential part of the Society experience, complementing the many benefits offered by the National Office.

Your Chapter can be one of the most valuable and meaningful parts of your Society membership. To make the most of it:

  • Programs: Sign up and attend programs designed by your Chapter leaders for you and your peers.
  • Networking: Forge trusted bonds with peers and others in your area, whom you can rely on throughout your career.
  • Public Speaking: Offer to speak at one of your Chapter programs.
  • Leadership Experience: Volunteer to serve on your Chapter’s Advisory Board or as an Officer.
  • Hosting and Sponsorship: Consider hosting or sponsoring a Chapter program or networking event.
  • Online Engagement: Take advantage of all the online resources for your Chapter, including your Chapter Member Directory, library of content, upcoming events, and recent online conversations.
