Deloitte's new "Corporate culture risk and the board" explains why culture matters, and translates the amorphous concept into practical, tangible action items boards can consider in conjunction with effecting their corporate risk, strategy, and performance oversight responsibilities. Among the tools and processes the board may consider are surveys to gauge employee engagement and external/3rd party perceptions, management's periodic reporting to the board, integration of culture into the compensation process and succession planning at all levels, and social media monitoring.
