Boards & Management: Practical ESG Considerations "Checklist"

By Randi Morrison posted 07-12-2018 08:18 AM

"ESG and Sustainability: The Board's Role" from Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz presents a wonderfully practical, business-oriented high-level overview of the numerous considerations that the board and management should address in developing the company's sustainability posture across multiple dimensions, e.g., corporate strategy; board oversight structure and process; dedication of management/company resources; shareholder engagement & activism; proxy and/or other disclosure and/or reporting; ESG ratings, and more.

Among the key takeaways are that companies should tailor their approaches to their specific facts and circumstances (one-size-fits-one), and monitor, manage, and perhaps consider tweaking them on an ongoing basis coincident with the rapidly evolving perspectives in this area.

We first reported on this memo in this week's Society Alert! Access numerous additional resources on our Sustainability/ESG page.
