Semler Brossy reported these and other 2019 CEO pay ratio disclosure statistics based on its review of 407 Russell 3000 companies as of April 18th:

  • The median CEO pay ratio of the S&P 500 (n=118) is 2x the median ratio of the Russell 3000, compared to 2.1x at the same time last year.
  • Median employee pay for S&P 500 companies is slightly higher than Russell 3000 companies (e.g., $62K for the R3000, compared to $69K for the S&P 50 at the 50th percentile) - except at the 90th percentile, at which point the R3000 median exceeds the S&P 500.
  • The median year-over-year change in companies’ CEO Pay Ratio is 0% for both the S&P 500 and Russell 3000 at the 50th percentile.
  • 10% of companies have disclosed an alternate CEO pay ratio.
  • The median year-over-year change in the median employee compensation is +4% and +2% for the Russell 3000 and S&P 500, respectively, at the 50th percentile.
  • The current median employee compensation for the Russell 3000 is 6% higher (at the median) than it was at this time last year.
