In this new article: "Reimagining Corporate Boardroom Searches to Support Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Goals," Ellig Group EVP and Global Board Services Leader Nicole Sandford recounts some common challenges experienced by directors, executives, corporate secretaries, and board advisors related to board placements. Based on these experiences, Sandford has aptly categorized the problems companies commonly encounter with these retained searches as: (i) list recycling, (ii) bait and switch, and (iii) radio silence - presumably none of which are desirable or anticipated when embarking on a diverse board candidate search. Armed with this information and a series of sound tips, boards, corporate secretaries, and in-house CHROs can press search firms to enhance their processes and pools for identifying and presenting diverse candidates before a firm is retained.
