Understanding & Acting on Racial Equity

By Randi Morrison posted 03-16-2021 08:24 PM

Deloitte’s “The Racial Equity Imperative” suggests how different roles/positions (directors and C-suite officers) can advance equity both within and outside of the organization, identifies numerous unfounded cultural assumptions and biases so that companies can affirmatively confront them, and proposes numerous actions companies may consider at all levels to effect positive change. Each highlighted action is brought to life with specific examples of potential current practice impediments to achieving an equitable outcome; suggested core (baseline) and outside–the-box (courageous) actions; a statement that captures the outcome; and company examples that serve to illustrate the suggested actions in the field. While not all of the actions are assumed to apply to every organization, there is something here for every business regardless of type, size, or industry, to help build a racially equitable environment.
