Proxy Advisors Weigh in on Say-on-Climate Proposals

In this informative post: “Say on Climate Votes: Glass Lewis Overview,” Glass Lewis explains why it will generally recommend against management and shareholder “Say-on-Climate” proposals based on an evaluation of the potential upsides, downsides, and unintended consequences of such proposals. The post also outlines good disclosure and other practices for companies that decide to put their climate plans to a shareholder advisory vote this proxy season that may be sufficient to garner Glass Lewis’s support.

In its recently published updated FAQs (which we reported last week), ISS acknowledged diverse investor views on such proposals, and indicated it would be developing an approach over the next few months based on experience and investor feedback after the proxy season.

See our recent report: “Say-on-Climate Developments” and additional information & resources on our Proxy Advisors,  Proxy Season 2021, and Shareholder Proposals pages.
