Climate-Related Shareholder Proposal Trends

ISS reported on US climate proposal themes and voting results during the 2021 proxy season. Of 84 climate-related shareholder proposals filed as of the report, 23 went to a vote, with a median support level of 48.9% compared to 37.6% last season. Most proposals filed were withdrawn.

Of the proposals filed, alignment with the Paris Agreement was the most common theme, whereas public advocacy-related proposals were the most common proposals voted, as shown here: 

Nearly half of voted proposals garnered majority support.
