Glass Lewis’s “Proxy Season Review 2021 (US)” contains a plethora of informative corporate governance-related benchmarking data and proxy season statistics, as well as Glass Lewis-specific voting recommendations, based on Russell 3000 proxies for meetings held during the 2021 proxy season.
Notably, nearly 74% of S&P 500 companies disclosed racial/ethnic board diversity metrics compared to 29% in 2020, as shown here:
Glass Lewis’s proprietary diversity disclosure ratings included in its S&P 500 Proxy Papers (we reported on here) reflects the increased disclosure, with 50% of companies garnering a Good or Exemplary rating in 2021 compared to just 22% in 2020.
Also noteworthy, 63% of Russell 3000 companies held virtual-only shareholder meetings in 2021, exceeding 2020’s count by 27%:
Glass Lewis recommended votes against 49 Russell 3000 directors for inadequate virtual-only meeting disclosure. See our prior report here on Glass Lewis’s virtual meeting disclosure expectations.
The report also includes robust benchmarking and trend data on board composition, ESG oversight, executive compensation, proxy voting, and more.
