ISS reported at a big picture level on the prevalence of clawback policies among the S&P 500 and Russell 3000 and by industry. Just over 4% of S&P 500 companies lack a clawback policy, compared to about 41% of the Russell 3000 (excluding the S&P 500). To the extent companies have a clawback policy, the policy typically covers both cash and equity.
As shown above, more than two-thirds of companies in most industries have a clawback policy, with prevalence in the Health Care and Communication Services industries being the industry exceptions at 37% and 57%, respectively.
