ISS's newly released updated Governance QualityScore (GQS) adds 23 new factors that are applicable to the US and applies three existing factors to the US market for the first time. The 23 new factors (pages 1 – 4 of the foregoing Highlights document) span the broad categories of Board Structure, Compensation, and Audit and Risk Oversight. The factors newly applied to the US market (pages 6, 7, and 9 of the foregoing Highlights document) fall within the Board Structure and Compensation categories. Factors that will be scored in the first year are accompanied by an asterisk (*). Each factor is accompanied by the associated question number in the Methodology Guide, which will provide additional detail.
Companies may verify and submit changes to their data on all GQS factors from November 9 – 23 through the data verification portal.
