This Conference Board report: “Telling the Human Capital Management Story: Toward a Strategic Competitive Advantage,” developed in collaboration with Seyfarth Shaw, Edelman, and HCMoneyball, provides guidance on developing a human capital management (HCM) strategy and well-considered disclosure based on recent input from approximately 200 corporate executives, board members, and outside experts.

In addition to participants’ observations and recommendations sprinkled throughout, the report compares the HCM topics covered by several widely referenced international frameworks and standards; outlines the primary elements of an HCM strategy; provides examples of recent HCM strategy disclosure (see Bank of America’s 2021 Human Capital Management Update and Phillips 66’s 2021 Human Capital Management Report); and suggests messaging priorities targeting a variety of stakeholders with diverse interests to maximize the effectiveness of such communications.

The accompanying interactive online dashboard, powered by Esgauge, includes benchmarking information on numerous data points across these topics:

  • Charitable Contributions
  • DE&I
  • Employee Health & Safety
  • Labor Practices & Supply Chain
  • ESG Reporting Practices

All of the online data can be filtered by index (Russell 3000, S&P MidCap 400, S&P 500), company size, and business sector.
