Further to our recent report: “Sustainability Assurance Standard Expected in 2024,” the IAASB announced its launch of a public consultation on its proposed new global sustainability assurance standard (dubbed ISSA 5000). The Exposure Draft and Explanatory Memorandum are here and here, respectively. FAQs are here.

Notably, the proposed standard reportedly is designed to be suitable for use with any sustainability topic, limited or reasonable assurance engagements, and any reporting framework, and by any type of assurance provider (i.e., accountants and non-accountants).

Comments—which may be submitted via this Response Template or online survey (slated for availability later this month)—are due December 1, 2023, and will be part of a broader outreach effort.
