MSCI’s “What the SEC’s New Climate Disclosure Rules Could Mean for Companies and Investors” highlights the sector-specific variations in disclosure rates of Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by sector as of March 2024 by the nearly 2,400 US companies in the MSCI USA IMI Index.

The post also notes the deltas in disclosure between US-based companies and non-US-based companies in MSCI indices, with 45% of US companies disclosing Scopes 1 and 2, and 29% of US companies disclosing Scope 3 GHG emissions, compared to 73% and 54% of non-US companies, respectively, as of February 15, 2024.
